So I was at the San Diego Department of Animal Services Southern branch for just a mo' the other day and noticed a flyer with some adoption fee reductions that I should pass on.

Here is a sample of the small side of meowdom...
Daisy - 8wk old Calico Cutie. She has an awesome Orange Rectangle on her forehead. Fabu! Adopt her at Rosedale Animal Rescue If you are in the market for meows, give them a ring!
The Escondido Humane Society is still running its Half Price Dog and Cat adoptions! This would bring your cost to only $22.50 for a Senior Dog or Meow, $27.50 for an Adult, or $42.50 for a youngster.
I also wanted to send a lil' shout out to folks that have been pointing over to the fuzzle blog lately.

`A`ohe lokomaika`i i nele i ke pâna`i (No kind deed has ever lacked its reward)
There were a bunch o' goody tables for the silent auction. Thanks to all the Spaniel Fans out there that donated to the auction!
Lots of the kids hangin' out at the Hanalei (event locale) were treated to the smiling puppy mugs of the two adoptable Spaniels mascoting the Luau. A different circle of keikis zoomed the puppy zone every 15 minutes.
The gals from San Diego Spaniel Rescue laid out a nice evening for the furthering of the Fuzzle Luv! If y'all are ready to rustle up some Spantastic Fuzzle Fun check out the San Diego Spaniel Rescue Events webpage. This group will be having an adoption event this Saturday the 26th:

Took my sweet patootie to the Paws of Coronado first annual Surf Dog Competition. Great idea for a fundraiser as everyone present seemed to be havin' a blast o' mornin' beach fun.
We hung back and watched the crowd practicing... There were poochie surf lessons for an hour & 1/2 before the serious competition started in. We saw the tail end of said lessons and it looked like a mix bag of water antics.
The ladies from Paws of Coronado were hangin' at their info booth, passing on the official fuzzle información.
The folks that were working as offical surf instructor dudes seemed very mellow and positive with their canine charges. Thanks Guys!
In between lessons and the first heat you could find these competitors chilaxin' in the warm Imperial Beach Sand.
There is something seriously mellow about Imperial Beach on a Sunday morning. There is no sense of the usual crazed SoCal beach bonanza freakout.
Very " easy like Sunday mornin'" yeah...
Saw the lovely lassys from Lucky Dog holdin' down the retail fort. Sweet doggy board shorts were on the menu. Fun!
There was also an adoptable representative of Paws of Coronado...
Pete - Pete le Sweet puppy loo was havin' a grand time on the beach with Paws beach buddy. Adopt him at Paws of Coronado (click his name for more info)
So after a few initial wipe out runs there was a contestant that started up the serious surfin' safari...
lil' Murphy was showing us how it is done.
Nate & I took off soon after this run so we did not see the eventual winning waves.
Check out the winners and more fun surf event info at the Union Trib's article (there was a ton of press at this thing - I think PAWS will have a huge turn-out next year)
When green is all there is to be It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why? Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful! And I think it's what I want to be.
I dropped by the Mission Valley Pet People on Sunday to record some images with the Pit Bull Rescue San Diego folks. They brought out a great lookin' group o' doggies. The foster folks that are involved with this rescue are always really nice and los doggies that they are fostering tend to have a nice balanced attitude about having their picture taken (always wins points with the photographer).
Hershey - This Exotic Shorthair snuggle man is trés fantastique! Seriously y'all if my kitty cat did not abhor the presence of other kitty cats this Fuzzle would be mine! Make me jealous. Adopt him at the Rosebud Society

While on the topic of reading... Look into Trinket's story. This lil' lady was saved by the bell and is looking for a new improved plot line. Call the folks at Pet Stop in La Jolla to begin the next chapter - 858-456-6311
and for those youngsters who follow the Fuzzle Book Road...
They may find better reading compehension! The Rancho Bernardo library has teamed up with Love on a Leash for a Pet Reading Program that pairs kids with canines to improve reading skills. The Union Trib has an interesting article on Reading Education Assistance Dogs in use.
Hope le meow is from the same story line as Trinket. Call the folks at Pet Stop in La Jolla for mas info - 858-456-6311

For some topical reading, check out the new ordinance that our neighbor Los Angeles has put into effect - Mandatory Spay & Neuter. This should be very interesting to track n' see how it plays out. I am sure that it will also have ripples to our San Diego Fuzzles. This measure is one of the first of its kind in the nation and another neighbor, Riverside, is already considering a similar path.
