Deer Doggy, Deer Doggy

Samson - Sweet 6 year old Dalmation Dude. Dalmations are often tricky for me to photograph but this fella was super cooperative and gave a mellow mug to the camera.
Adopt him at San Diego Animal Services Central. His ID number is A1105731

Way before 101 of these guys fated the breed to a bit more shelter occupation, their way-back history of Deer Hunting created the name they wear today. Dama (latin for Fallow Deer) and Chien (French for Dog) creates Damachien and you can see where that is going. They also had a rollicking partnership with gypsy groups through the continent which found them frollicking by the moving wagons n' horses.

Anywho...

There are a bunch o' events this weekend that are formulated for your adoption pleasure!

Sun yer Buns

I was able to pop in at last Sunday's fab Bunny Fest put on by San Diego's House Rabbit Society.

There were all sorts of events, Bun related vendors, and House Rabbit Society Benefit Auctions.

I showed up in time to help sort & tally the Bunny Photo Contest. Great pictures were submitted by all! My favorite category was the popular "Men with Buns". Fantastic!
I did not submit a photo this year but next year I may have to give it a go!

By far the coolest aspect of the event was all the folks that brought their lagomorph luv bugs to the party. Lots o' buns hopping around this lil' green square.

If you are looking for a great house fuzzle check out the
House Rabbit Society's website for info to find out if a bunny might be right for you.

Great Event y'all.

Hands of Compassion

Last Saturday there was a bunch o' stuff going on around town. I managed to pop in at the awesome art auction presented by the San Diego Spay and Neuter Action Project and San Diego Animal Advocates.

This benefit put forward all sorts of pro fuzzle donation delights!

Everybody seemed to be havin' a chilltastic bounce around the art auction availables.

raaaaaaaaaaaarghle! me likey!

There was even a band to further mellow the mood.

But what is a Fuzzle benefit without a lil' Fuzzle?!

This is Felipe le charmer. He is a foster fuzzle that knew how to make the rounds.
He even sidled up for a wee cuddle with our ever lovin' San Diego Verbivores - Richard Lederer and Martha Barnette.

Y'all have to check out their radio program - A Way with Words. Their show is like Bon Bons for the brain - soooooooo tasty & ya never know what is going to be behind the next bite. That link will send you to their kpbs page with audiolinks. Indulge!

As afternoon became evening the bidding tables had a bit o' the frenzy going on for last bid standing. It's all good.

Le Guest of Honor, Encinitas Councilwoman Maggie Houlihan, took a quick break from rockin' the auction mike to hang with her co-fuzzle supporter, Del Mar Mayor Crystal Crawford.

Thanks to all who donated to this event and to all who participated in the auctions and raffles. I was hearing that SNAP has spayed & neutered over 8,000 pets in San Diego. They are a great group that is changing the reality of pet overpopulation in San Diego.
Thanks Guys!

till tomorrow...

Adopt Her at the Pit Bull Rescue San Diego.

Howdy y'all

Just had a lovely nosh' with the Pit Bull Rescue San Diego group. We had a good ol' time with Merriment & Munchables at the Mission Vly Bennigans (which I can't help but call Shenanigans in my head since viewing the movie "Waiting" - but I digress).

These guys have a bunch o' cute fuzzles of all shapes & sizes available for your future fuzzle family. They also will be attending a number of events in the coming months if you would like to make contact and check out the bully scene. If y'all are headed out to the RB Dog Park "Walk with Your Dog" fundraiser in October, you should stop by and say hello to the PBRSD team. Click this (link) to go to the RB Dog Park's pdf of event info. Keep checking the "Fuz Calendar" for updates of events in the coming months.

Surf Dog [or] Beach Blanket Bow Wow Part Deux

As promised I have a full photo spread from Sunday's Surf Dog Extravaganza...

The Helen Woodward Center and Swamis Surfing Association teamed up to host this fuzzle fundraiser.

A good collection for kinetic Fuzzle Fantastic. Everyone had somethin' going on...

Some Fuzzy's were enjoying a good splashy romp.

and some were deciding if they really wanted to channel their inner surfer.

but with a lil' encouragement...

The inner Dude emerges Victorious!

There was one fuzzy in particular that wanted to make sure those waves knew who was boss...

Buddy the Surf Dog was definitely in charge of las olas.

It was impressive just to take in the Excellent handling of the paddle out

I think I overheard that this hot doggin' dude caught 12 waves in a half hour bonanza!

Lest you think that these dogs were straight loco please realize that there was a Rescue Team on hand.

Ok so the official title was "Ball Rescue" team but they looked prepared!

There was also a dangerous cute overload situation in play when my viewfinder sighted a mini beach fuzzle in the midst of a game o' chase the water drops...

I thought that I was safe for a moment - but then the same mini fuz entered the beach bikini contest and I knew that all was lost...

btw she is wearing a sundress that matches her owner's dress

Everyone was having a good time - both those that were in the contest and those that were just enjoying the beach.

The day definitely reminded me of a closing line of a favorite poem...

For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)
it’s always ourselves we find in the sea

- ee cummings

Surf Dog [or] Beach Blanket Bow Wow

Just in case you were not sure that you live in a beach town...

The second Doggie Surfing Competition of the Summer has landed!

Truly a testament to San Diego's luv of waves and wags.

The Helen Woodward Center brought its Surf Dog event to the Del Mar Dog Beach for los perros acuáticos fun.

There were bunches o' folks. Maybe you were one of them...
I think a lot of folks popped in whilst on their regular Sunday Dog Beach strollin'.

If you need a pardner' for next years sets...

Jeffrey - 2 year old Male Australian Shepherd mix.
Adopt him at the Helen Woodward Center

I have much to report and Many Adoptable fuzzles to show but sleep calls. Stay tuned for mas Surfista snaps!

See All I Want You to do is be My Love...

I have emerged from a crazy couple of weeks. Of course I miss chatting out the Fuzzle luv! A mix of various photographic endeavors made me channel my inner energizer bunny.

I think the final tally of photos I took for the Union Tribune Pet Page topped off between 700-750 adoptable pets. Booyah!

I gotta take a breath n' take a moment to pass some luvin' appreciation to all the rescue / shelter staff & volunteers who assisted me in this photographic adoption ark. If I was a pop star I would sing ya a luv ballad.

These folks brought me everyone from the teeny weenies like...

Cottonball & Friends - sweet male meeses only 3 mo old
Adopt them at the San Diego Humane Society

to the silliest big boy I have met in a long time...

Barney - This Silly 3 year old definitely renewed my hee haw. There is something endearing about watching a guy this big bound like a little bunny and pretend that he does not see you coming but wait oh yes he does cause he is soooo silly. Male St Bernard.
Adopt him at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter

The Union Tribune Adopt a Pet page will be in next Wednesday's paper. Make sure to pick one up if you are interested in adopting a pet!

I think things will be less crazy for a week or so. I promise lots more info to come. I have been chatting up the rescues and shelters all over town and will be bringing much more Fuzzle to the Forefront!

lest you think that I have been neglecting my blogging duties due simply to secret lazy streak

Restaurants, & weddings, & real estate... oh my!

Make sure to check the " Fuzzle Calendar" for events this weekend. There is a huge adoption event going on over at Petsmarts this weekend. Check your local storefront for fuzzles galore.

If you missed the PAWS surf dog event last month in Imperial Beach you have one more chance to let Spot Surf the waves. Helen Woodward has its Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon happening this Sunday at "Dog Beach", North Beach in Del Mar at Camino Del Mar/Highway 101. Surf Dog info Link

If my blog was a pop singer...

If I told you you were beautiful,
Would you date me on the regular?
(sung over languorous tech beat)
