Body Language

HocusPocus_01.jpg
Hocus & Pocus - This extremely sweet pair of bonded bunny brothers are part of the pilot program between the San Diego House Rabbit Society, Escondido Humane Society, and the Petco Foundation.[link]

This project sets up bunnies as available adoptables at a number of San Diego County Petcos. Hocus & Pocus are aprox. 1.5 years old and are a total delight. They were both very easy to handle and were a pleasure to work with. I believe that Hocus is the smaller of the two and also the more outgoing. Pocus is a bit more shy. In the next pic you can see that Hocus is giving his big bro a little reassurance.

I think the Body Language says it all...

Wayne - A 1.5 year old Basenji mix. He is a champion smiler. Whoever adopts him should defo send his smile in to BARK magazine! Adopt him at Helen Woodward Center.

Crazy rainy day here in ol' San Diego. Supposed to snow in las montañas this weekend. I am hoping to do a camping trip sometime this summer up in the cuyamacas. [link]

HWC_Dottie.jpg
Dottie is a purebred black lab that seems like a mellow 2 year old. She is absolutely gorgeous.
Adopt her at the Helen Woodward Animal Center.

On this rainy weekend I think that Spa Day may be more apropo. Get your Fuzzle in on the good times with the awesome folks down at Muttropolis. They will be holding a totally fabu Spaw Day for pets tomorrow (Saturday). Lots of Howl-istic health topics will be covered. Green n' Fuzzy

NCP_chewyKitty.jpg
This wee one really gets into her "Green Reading".

That's just the kind of rounded experience the kittys of National Cat Protection get!

So of course we have the big day coming up on Sunday...

Earth Day at Balboa Park [link]

This is going to be a big one and there will be a number of our local pet rescue groups in attendance in the exhibitors area. It's Free & it's Fun! It will be busy fo' sho - check out the website for transpo suggestions.

RIRI_Earthday.jpg
RiRi is showing off his super green look. He really just wants a bit o' fish that I am holding up in front of him but I'll pretend that he is imploring the viewer to tread lightly on the Earth. He is fifteen years old so I think that he is pretty happy to be around on the ol' globe still.

I know I am!

In fact - the one purchase that I made when I went to the Costa Mesa Pet Expo was a gift for RiRi Kitty who was an indoor/outdoor kitty till about 6 years ago and now is all indoors.

I had been checking out the idea of buying a kitty video for him but I just thought it would not work since he has never payed any attention to le tube. Was I wrong !!

riri_birdyTV.jpg

I purchased a two pack video set that was on Expo Special ($20.00) Since my parents have cats also - we split the package. As soon as I got home that day I popped a viddy in and immediately RiRi started to calm down (he was in an excited way since I had been out all day). He was not watching the video but the awesome tweety bird sounds took him back to his days sleeping in dusty sun hollows in our yard - he totally fell asleep in like 5 minutes.

The next day I put the video on again thinking that the sounds would be nice for him. I took it a step further and got his attention using my usual treat giving position and then traced my hand to the TV screen. That was all it took. Ten minutes later he was still watching the video and I was making plans to scrape my jaw off of the floor. I still am amazed that he watches it but he does. He loves it. Go check out the dvds website if you want to try it. [link]

I have also seen if for sale locally at Muttropolis. [link]

If you are looking for a cat to have around & watch viddys with make sure to consider le lounger known as...

NCP_Charlotte.jpg
Charlotte - This gorgeous 5 year old kitty is probably best as an only meow in the house. Adopt her at National Cat Protection.

Fuzzy the Magnificent

CVS_zeus.JPG
Zeus - I don't know if he's packing any thunderbolts but this Anatolian Shepherd is ready to show you his magic. He's still a young guy and ready for his new job. Anatolian's have a long history of workin' - "They were bred for hundreds, if not thousands of years in their native Turkey as Livestock Guardians for the flocks of semi-nomadic shepherds." (from the ASD rescue page info). Hop in yer chariot and head on down to the Chula Vista Animal Care to adopt him!

So I just got word that Octavian the Kitty has been adopted! I featured him on the March 30th post. His awesome new family sent me some pics of his transition to new household member. I am super happy for them and of course totally jealous cause I thought he was tops! Here is one of the cutey pie photos that Sheila (new mom) sent in...

Octavian_newhome.jpg

If you have adopted one of the pets that have been featured on Fuzzle - drop me a line [Email Link]
I also just saw a fun opportunity for folks that have adopted a fuzzy buddy.

Mutts Comics is searching for real adoption stories to be a part of their illustrated tales. Check out their website for more info on this fun fuzzy fame op. [link]

Woofstock

Woofstock_01.jpg
So this is the first year I have mosied over to the fuz fest that is...

Woofstock!

First off it is a benefit for the awesome group Canine Companions for Independence. [link]
They provide highly trained assistance dogs to folks with disabilities and maintain ongoing support to their graduates so that the partnership is always a great one!

Woofstock_02.jpg

There were all sorts o' fun vendors. I was introduced to the fantastic doggy apparel of Hippy Hound. Sherri has the best fabric combos going on and the coat designs have comfort and ease of use well considered. Their website is still being worked on but it has contact info [link] The site indicates that she will have a booth at the Encinitas street fair on April 28th - defo check it out if styley doggy duds are on your radar.

Woofstock_03.jpg

I also won a hat from the Viejas spin' le wheel game. Whilst busy being a winner I noticed that they were handing out fliers for an upcoming event that sounds super cool. They have put together a fun fair of Service Dog Celebration.

Celebrate Service Dogs
July 28th -29th
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Viejas Casino & Outlet Center
5000 Willows Rd, Alpine CA
619-455-5400

Once my perusing of the vendor zone was exhausted I mosied to the super frisbee dog extravanganza. I had never actually watched a fribee dog do its thing. On t.v. sure, but never live with the action coming fast n' furious.

Woofstock_07.jpg

the crowd was pretty into it - especially cause the dogs kinda slipped through the barrier flags a couple o' times to make their catch.

Woofstock_05.jpg

crzy

So long for now.

Pet Expo-ialidocious

costamesaFair
So I popped over to the big Pet Expo in Costa Mesa today. My mom was co-pilot in the pet adventure. I had never been to this event before and it was pretty fun. The fairgrounds are nice and there was a really big Adoptable Pet presence. Hooray!

Rio
Rio the Super Duper Therapy Dog was helping to raise funds for the Therapy Dogs of Southern California. They had a bunch of really sweet dogs in attendance. Check out their website. [link]

The group had trading cards made with all their therapy dogs. I picked up one for Rio. Check out super dog's story (from the back of the card):

I started my life/career as a puppy in the guide dog program and at about a year old I had a career change to a Therapy Dog. I love to visit and do tricks for all the children in the hospital. I also love Flyball tournaments, to run and fetch the tennis ball, play in the water at the beach and travel in my R.V...

splashdog
My mom & I checked out the Splash Dog antics for a wee while. I am assured that my hee haw is renewed for at least a month.

Lest y'all think that I do not have an adoptable for viewing...

Meet Cami
Cami
We watched this little gal be the demo dog for a training seminar and I gotsta tell ya. She is a winner. Very sharp in the ol' noggin and very well balanced. There was plastic sheeting from the stage blowing all around her and she was not phased at all. She was super responsive during the 20 minute demo session. I was informed that she does very well around other dogs and noticed her later (in a small run with about 5 other dogs) being very well behaved.

So you say you are ready to seal the deal...
She is in the care of the Riverside Animal Shelter. [link]

Her collar tag showed #2747. She is a 4 yr old female that has been microchipped & spayed. I am not sure if she will be brought back to the Pet Expo for Sat. & Sun but you can probably call the shelter and check to see if she is being taken there over the weekend.

If you want to get out to a fun fuzzle festival this weekend and Costa Mesa is just way too far - you are in luck my friend. Woofstock is happening Saturday at Balboa Park and for a mere $5.00 you can have the fair feeling right in our own gem of a park. [link]

Woofstock

My Buddy N' Me...

HWC_Buddy1
Buddy - This coy demeanor is his ploy to suck you into a fun day with the Buddy Man! A young Siberian Husky mix (about 2 years old) is waiting for somebody to play with n' love, n' go for runs with, n' luv, n' snuggle w/ snacks, n' luv, etc.

HWC_Buddy2
Who knows?
Maybe he can be your hot date to the upcoming Wags for Wishes in July. [link]

HWC_Buddy3
If you know that lurv at first sight has just occurred - rush down to Helen Woodward Center for the adoption!

If you are looking for some other variety of adoptable adorable then make sure to check the Fuzzle Calendar [link] for the latest adoption events happening around town.

I'm a Lover Not a Fighter...

Bianca - The lovely lassy that was found calloused n' worn is blooming into a mellow luv bug that can now know the comfort of a soft bed. When I first met her she gave me the little " will you be my friend?" Sweet/Sad eyes and lifted her paw towards me to initiate contact. I think you should meet her too. Adopt her at Pit Bull Rescue San Diego.

So it sounds like Congress just passed some legislation that will give enforcement agencies the tools to dissolve the network of animal fighting that is experienced in the country.
Check out the news at the Humane Society Website [link] and the Best Friends Website [link]

Strider the kitty smiles his approval!

Strider is an adorable smiley tabby that I saw available for adoption at the Friends of Cats in El Cajon. If you are looking for a cat to adopt it is really worth the trip out there. They are Great!

Hoppin' Down the Fuzzy Trail...

Cadbury Egg model Riri showing us all that this weekend doesn't have to be about buying bunnys of the non-choco variety. Fuzzles of all types can be adopted and appreciated this weekend! check out the Fuzzle Calendar for a list o' adoption events around town. [link]

If you have a fuzzy buddy that you would like to immortalize in an easter fashion...

10am - 3pm
Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA

200 Saxony Rd

Encinitas

It looks like these two mega cuties are ready for their easter egg hunt...

Tyler & Noodles - These two chow chow mixes could definitely use an easter surprise. They have been at the shelter for a while. Classic case of good dogs that need somebody to take a closer look at their charms! I got to spend some time watching them frolic in a play yard and they really are sweet n' happy pups. Adopt them at Helen Woodward Animal Center.

If you would like some more info on how to make this a better easter weekend for the bun buns o' da world check out the info at the House Rabbit society.
