So Close & Yet So Close

So there has been a bit of news lately regarding a fellow who had a whole bunch o' doggies (way too many) in his Tijuana residence. I am not going to go into that item specifically but instead reflect on the fact that there are a bunch o' doggies (seriously large numbers) that roam around in the big T that could use our help. There are already a number of local groups that help these o'er the border doggies get homes and assist in the spay / neuter process to help deal with the overpopulation.
Below are links to three groups that are in the mix - Check them out!

All is Full of Love...

It's all around you.
Bridget - A youngster that has had a bit of a rough go in her brief term and she will need to be the only pet in the home. She is reported to be a snuggle bug for your lap. I met her the other day and she did a great job in front of the camera. If you already have pets in your home please consider becoming a sponsor for this gal that is in foster with Pitbull Rescue San Diego. [link]
If you like the bandanna that she is wearing you should check out the other well made dog togs over at Hippy Hound. [link]

The Hunter...

Orion - This 5 year old Lab mix was introduced to me at North County Humane Society. He is really mellow and was quite easy to work with. Look deep into his eyes. He could be your next couch potato / easy does it walk buddy. [link]
now for trivia / waste a moment time...
In pre-Christian Scandinavia, "Orion's belt" was known as Frigg's Distaff (Friggerock)
which leads me to having a hopeless chorus of the Fragglerock theme song in my head now.
Your Welcome.

What Do You Do to Panic...
I know that things are starting to look pretty rocky out there.
Likelihood that percentage of homeless pets will be on the rise -
high, orange, etc.
Remember that you can make a difference - sending a little love to the adoptables is a great way to send some reinforcing love into your own life. Peruse the weblinks on the side bar for a luv connection. There are so many ways to help. Even if you don't have any time to share you can help by donating a number of different items directly to the groups in need. Common items on "wish lists" around town are:
- Blankets and Towels (these are always wearing out so are always in high demand) They do not have to be new or fancy.
- Paper Towels
- Buckets
- Trash Bags
- Empty Toilet Paper Rolls (for bunny toys)
- Batteries
- Funnels
- Silverware
- Can Openers
- Envelopes
- Cheeze Whiz (each group's wishlist seems to have a different pill swallowing enticement)
maybe you have some of these pet items to donate...
- Kitty litter
- Leashes
- Toys
- Cat/Dog treats
- Canned Cat Food/Dog Food
Take a look at the wish list of your local shelter or foster group - they all have one guaranteed!
If you would prefer to drown your sorrows in a delicious beer while assisting an awesome group of folks known as the Friends of Humane Society de Tijuana [link], the La Jolla Brewhouse [link] (tasty food and rescue group friendly) will be hosting a Yappy Hour to raise money towards a mobile unit for Humane Society de Tijuana's Street Clinics. There will be raffle prizes, food/drink specials...
