Layla - This beautiful Pointer / Lab mix gal is a sweety patootie. I met her this last weekend at the Muttropolis in La Jolla. The folks from SNAP San Diego were there with a bunch of adorable adoptables from Chula Vista Animal Care. This little (actually mid-size) lady is a bit shy in new situations and she is Very sweet once it is realized that everything is oooookay.

All this Rain is Leading to...

Rise and Shine

Puppy lovin's - I can't remember this wee pup's name (met him at the Muttropolis Jingle Mingle) but I do remember his winning personality and amazing sweet demeanor. He was part of the adoption options that came from Chula Vista Animal Care to the party. He was not adopted that night but one lucky person is gonna get him!

Ok y'all it has been an embarrassing amount of time since the fuzzle has landed or lifted or laughed with. Let's just say things have been upside down and scrambled around. But the fuz does and will always go on!

Free the Fuz [or] Fuz for Free!

I know it's been about a bazillion years since I've posted ( actual time about two weeks ) - things have been wacky busy but I am back on board and there is lot's to check out.

From now until August 18th the Chula Vista Shelter is waiving adoption fees for cats over 6 months of age for qualified adopters!

Requirements are an approved adoption application, a current Driver's License and a major credit card.

Wags for Wishes [or] Rocket Dog! part deux

Rocket Doggies come in wee packages also. Don't forget that a lot of the little breeds are muy atlético!

So Wags fer Wishes was great fun as a spectator. It's like doggy day at Magic Mtn or something. The dogs are queued up everywhere to get on rides and they are all looking to their companions as if to say " can we go on again as soon as it's finished?"

Flyball was a blast to watch. I had never really checked it out for more than a second before. Wags was a great intro 'cause these folks were amped and ready to go! Dogs of all sizes were participating. I'll try to research local teams and post them to a subsequent Fuzzle post.

Wags is a great event for many reasons but one of the most important to some Adoptable Buddies out there is the chance to show off at the Adoption Center Tent!

Ok y'all - I am amazed that this guy made it past the first day at the S Ford Adoption booth. He is Mr Photogenic! Fenway is his name - go ahead and wear it out! Adorable 4 year old male Boston Terrier mix. [link]

There were lots' o doggies Fenway's size that were tearing up the track at events like the luring obstacle course. This lil' terrier is a good example of their awesome antics...

I also watched the sheepherding for awhile. Totally fascinating teamwork. I didn't get any pics of that event - maybe next year. In the meantime if you need someone to rustle up some guinea pigs or make sure that yer socks are well corraled...

Pepe le cutey! We were calling him a TBC - Teacup Border Collie - for fun but he is actually a Papillon mix. Beyond Cute and quite the perky player! (when he isn't napping a la this picture) Adopt this 11 month old at Chula Vista Animal Services #A080634. [link]

So in the middle of the day I hung out at the Splash Dogs venue and checked out the mighty dock divers! There were some amazing leaps to be seen.

This guy was an amazing high jumper. I think on this one he was up for so long he is starting to reconsider things on the way down!

SNAP & the Neuter Scooter were in attendance. They had some wee mews up for adoption but I did not get any snaps of them this time. Remember that they have paired up with Bow Wow Beauty Shoppe in Hillcrest to host some adoptable kittens! [link]

Hangin' out in the shade were some adoptable puppies with S Ford Foundation. Get yourself ready 'cause these guys are off the charts!

The group had a bunch o' doggies being goodwill ambassadors for the greyhound breed.

So once I popped back into the sport zone I mozied over to the Luratics lure coursing zone and hung out there for the rest of the day. It is non-stop entertainment watching those guys run. Some of them take it pretty seriously...

Wags for Wishes [or] Rocket Dog!

So this year I got a chance to check out most of the sporting events at Wags for Wishes and there were amazing Rocket Dogs everywhere.

Whether they were subtly using their powers to herd sheepies in the proper course or blatantly defying gravity above grass or water - they seemed to be having a pretty good time.

I myself kept running into a particularly awesome adoptable as he was out for his walkies (on break from the Chula Vista Animal Services Adoption Booth).

I think folks tend to have a picture of a doggy experience in their head when they think of what it would be like to have a pet join the household. I honestly think that Jack may be the embodiment of lots o' people's dream buddy - Mellow, Friendly with other dogs/cats/kids, Super Sweet!

Doggy Dash - Part Deux

Saturday was the rise n' shine fun time at the Chula Vista Doggy Dash!
Proceeds from the event went to H.E.A.R.T. (this is the non-profit organization that assists the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility in providing care for thousands of pets) [link]

I popped in at a little past 8:00 am & the joint was already jumpin'.

There were all sorts of great vendor booths and rescue groups in attendance.

They had a bunch of adoptable fuzzles hanging out showing their true "lap dog" nature. Here we have Hope & Rego (both 5 years old) practicing the fine art of lap balancing.

The oh so awesome Neuter Scooter was there. SNAP holds regular Spay & Neuter clinics in Chula Vista and have Spayed & Neutered over 10,000 pets in San Diego. They have a Fundraiser Golf Tournament coming up this summer (more info tomorrow). If you like to golf you should definitely check it out!

Julie the Guinea Pig! If y'all have been reading this blog for awhile - You know I gots love for the piggies! Wee Companions always has a fantastic assortment and I noticed quite a few youngster piggies there also. [link]

So by this point the racers have started to line up and the big start is just minutes away. There is just enough time for the competitors to sniff out the competition and size up who might be coming home with the gold...

The Chula Vista Police Canine Unit put on a demonstration of one of their doggy officers at work. It was a good thing that everyone was holding their doggies leads because the dogs got way amped up when the center doggy was showing its stuff. It was totally intense!

There were sooo many folks hanging out in front of the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility's booth that I just could not get a clear shot. But that is awesome! I think they got some really good response that day! They were taking pictures of all the race participants, handling licensing, fielding questions, setting up interactions, n' more. [link]

Doggy Dash

The Encinitas Street Fair is gonna be bumpin' and there will definitely be a fuzzy contingent on hand. For sure you will see the Greyhound Connection folks and also make sure to look for the Hippy Hound booth if you are looking for some seriously prosh doggy wear.

Chula Vista's Cinco De Mayo Fest will also be Rockin' the Sunday fun time. Chula Vista Animal Shelter and SNAP (Spay Neuter Action Project) will be hangin' out and promoting adoptable pets.

If indoors is more your game on Sunday make sure to go by the Vista Entertainment Center and have fun "Bowling for Animals". This is a super fun fest fundraiser that benefits SNAP, Feral Cat Coalition, California Animal Assoc., & San Diego Animal Advocates. It sounds like a blast!

OB Dog Beach your usual domain? San Diego Humane will have its mobile adoption squad hangin' at the OB Dog Wash with adoptable adorables.

Fuzzy the Magnificent

Zeus - I don't know if he's packing any thunderbolts but this Anatolian Shepherd is ready to show you his magic. He's still a young guy and ready for his new job. Anatolian's have a long history of workin' - "They were bred for hundreds, if not thousands of years in their native Turkey as Livestock Guardians for the flocks of semi-nomadic shepherds." (from the ASD rescue page info). Hop in yer chariot and head on down to the Chula Vista Animal Care to adopt him!

So I just got word that Octavian the Kitty has been adopted! I featured him on the March 30th post. His awesome new family sent me some pics of his transition to new household member. I am super happy for them and of course totally jealous cause I thought he was tops! Here is one of the cutey pie photos that Sheila (new mom) sent in...

I stopped by Muttropolis (luv this store) on Saturday to check out their Valentine Smooch-a-Pooch event. I showed up after the fun smoochy booth was over but still got a chance to hang with the awesome ladies of SNAP and check out the adoptables from
Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.
There were adoptions that went through that day (yay!) and the sweet pupples that have pix in this post are still available.

Kellogg - I noticed this wee waggler when I stopped by Pit Bull Rescue's Valentine Adoption Event yesterday. She's teeny weeny but will be the valentine smoochy for this post. Have you ever thought of fostering? This group has some great dogs ready for foster homes. Hmmmmm let's take that "Be Mine" to heart this Valentine's day.
