Doggy Dash - Part Deux

DoggyDash_01.jpg
Saturday was the rise n' shine fun time at the Chula Vista Doggy Dash!
Proceeds from the event went to H.E.A.R.T. (this is the non-profit organization that assists the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility in providing care for thousands of pets) [link]

I popped in at a little past 8:00 am & the joint was already jumpin'.

There were all sorts of great vendor booths and rescue groups in attendance.

DoggyDash_05.jpg

I started out saying hello to the folks with Greyhounds 2 Go. [link]

DoggyDash_04.jpg
They had a bunch of adoptable fuzzles hanging out showing their true "lap dog" nature. Here we have Hope & Rego (both 5 years old) practicing the fine art of lap balancing.

and peering over from behind his buddy...

Flick - The beautiful 6 year old brindle boy!

DoggyDash_03.jpg
Voodoo - The sweetie pie 11 year old lady. She seems mellow and wonderful.
Adopt these guys with Greyhounds2Go. [link]

DoggyDash_08.jpg
The oh so awesome Neuter Scooter was there. SNAP holds regular Spay & Neuter clinics in Chula Vista and have Spayed & Neutered over 10,000 pets in San Diego. They have a Fundraiser Golf Tournament coming up this summer (more info tomorrow). If you like to golf you should definitely check it out!
[link]
They are Amazing!

Tomorrow I will be posting pics of a couple of sweet kitties that they will have up for adoption. Stay Tuned!

Greyhounds were Definitely in the house!

Here representing Greyhound Adoption Center as an official SpokesDoggy is Elvis!
DoggyDash_06.jpg
When this rockstar enters the building you take notice. His charm & charisma works like a spell over those that meet him! He was there to show off the awesome attributes of the greyhound and I think he was doing a pretty good job. [link]

Here he is with his gal pal Brindy (co-SpokesDoggy). I think she is swooning...
Or is that me!
DoggyDash_18.jpg
Check out their website for information about adoptable greyhounds! [link]

n' just when I think it's safe to go on...

doggydash_15.jpg

the Cute comes out n' gets me again!

This time it is via Stoney the Siamese ratty who is up for adoption with Wee Companions. They had an awesome group of wee adoptables available that day. If you are looking for Ratty Buddies with great temperaments - ya gotsta check in with them! [link]

They also had the cute in a slightly rounder package - otherwise known as...
Doggydash_16.jpg
Julie the Guinea Pig! If y'all have been reading this blog for awhile - You know I gots love for the piggies! Wee Companions always has a fantastic assortment and I noticed quite a few youngster piggies there also. [link]

So by this point the racers have started to line up and the big start is just minutes away. There is just enough time for the competitors to sniff out the competition and size up who might be coming home with the gold...

DoggyDash_07.jpg
And then they're off!

Whilst the athletes were doing their exercise thang I swooped back over to my good buddies at Pit Bull Rescue San Diego to get a few glamour shots going.

doggydash_13.jpg
Mimi - This Pitbull Gal is a lover with beautious blue eyes. Adopt her at Pitbull Rescue San Diego. [link]

and talkin' about lovers...
DoggyDash_17.jpg
Cassie - This lil' Terrier mix is lovin' life. She is blind and takes it in good stride with a casual air. She defo' knows how to snuggle as exemplified below...

DoggyDash_14.jpg
Adopt her at Pitbull Rescue San Diego. [link]

After the race was run there was time for Pet Blessings.
DoggyDash_09.jpg

and fun contests including best outfit.
DoggyDash_10.jpg

and just general fun in the sun and doggy watching...
doggydash_12.jpg

I think the one on the left looks like Eric Estrada.

The Chula Vista Police Canine Unit put on a demonstration of one of their doggy officers at work. It was a good thing that everyone was holding their doggies leads because the dogs got way amped up when the center doggy was showing its stuff. It was totally intense!
DoggyDash_11.jpg
There were sooo many folks hanging out in front of the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility's booth that I just could not get a clear shot. But that is awesome! I think they got some really good response that day! They were taking pictures of all the race participants, handling licensing, fielding questions, setting up interactions, n' more. [link]

Walk for Animals

HumaneWalk07_01.jpg
Last Weekend there was a super fuzzle fest otherwise known as...

The 13th Annual San Diego Humane Walk for Animals !

This year they held it at Crown Point in Pacific Beach - Ended up being a super locale for the festivities.

I made a quick swing around the vendor n' rescues zone - first things first. One of the first fuzzles of the day that I met was...

HumaneWalk07_02.jpg
Hanna - She makes we want to say Hanna Banana in my head about 50 times. Off the Charts mellow and sweet. She was hangin' with her foster group Coastal German Shepherd Rescue. I think she will be adopted pretty fast. [link]

Just a couple o' steps away was a kind soul by the name of...
HumaneWalk07_03.jpg
Magic - Ok so now I have that Heart song running through my head like a fuzzle after a frankfurter. But he really is a Magic Man! This lovely shepherd boy has had a tough go in life and is really sweet despite it all. Adopt him at Coastal German Shepherd Rescue. [link]

Had a chance to hang with my buddy Cindy (her fuzzy buddy Tess is featured having fun at the lure coursing park in the Fuzzle sidebar!) from Puptown Doggy Day Care. If you have some downtown doggy day care needs check out their website. [link]

So as I continued down the lane I could not help but notice my top contender for most photographed doggies of the day...
HumaneWalk07_05.jpg
I had to muscle in (not really - just being dramatic) past all the paparazi to land a shot of this pair of canine celebrities. Who can help it when they are just chillaxin on their surfboardmobile? I can't.

I kept on keepin' on down the lane futzin with my camera, etc. My attention suddenly snapped back into focus when I noticed that somebody was leaning up on me...
HumaneWalk07_04.jpg
What do you get when ya fall in love?
I looooove this doggy. Believe me I see a bazillion fuzzles around and every now & then one of them really hooks me. Such is this fuzzle. He is swoony sweet and I am already jealous of the lucky person that will adopt him. Check out Greyhound Adoption Center and ask about Velamint! [link]

Velamint was not the only adoptable option hanging tight with the GAC. Hold on to your name game folks 'cause here comes...
HumaneWalk07_11.jpg
Turnip - Greyhound Adoption Center has miles of smiles with their good buddy Turnip. He is ready to be your favorite couch potato. [link]

While I was hangin' with the folks from GAC they informed me about the Fyvie Fund - a special fund set aside for assisting in medical costs for greyhounds that come to GAC with serious leg injuries. It's named after Fyvie, a female greyhound that was found with broken bones in both forearms. I got to meet her after taking snaps of her two adoptable buddies. She es muy adorable. Check out their website to see how you can help this project keep on keepin' on. [link]

greyhound_sammy.jpg

P.S. If you already have a greyhound hangin' at your home and would like a fun field trip for the fuzzle - make sure to check out the Luratics website. [link] I have met a number of greyhounds that have a blast at the Luratics Lure Coursing runs.

so anywho...

HumaneWalk07_07.jpg
The crowd around the start line (I know it says finish in the photo but it was one of those dual-use banners) started to gather up for the big countdown. Mayor Jerry S. counted them down and then I started to realize just how many people had shown up!

HumaneWalk07_10.jpg
This place was seriously packed. Good job y'all for helpin' to raise funds for San Diego Humane. It's always fun to see folks feelin' good and frollicking with their fuzzles.

To be clear there were a lot of dogs there that morning but let us not forget that there are other fuzzles in the sea...
HumaneWalk07_08.jpg
Here is intrepid kitty number one. I shall name thee Braveheart the tamer of all ye survey. Honestly I think he wanted to tell those dogs a thing or two but he hung tight y'all. I was impressed - and he wasn't the only one...
HumaneWalk07_09.jpg
So this is trusting kitty number two. Big props for coming out to the Walk for Animals with about a bazillion dogs around!

And you can be sure that there will always be a reptile representing at the SD Humane walk. Our particular model for this post will be monsieur Iguana -
iguana.jpg

So whilst the walkers were doing there walking thing I popped over to finish peeking around the pavilions and ran into my buddies from Pit Bull Rescue San Diego. They had a wee adoptable hanging out.
HumaneWalk07_12.jpg
Cupertino - Mr Cutey Pie otherwise known as "Cooper". Adorable! Check out Pit Bull Rescue San Diego [link] or Kim's Fuzzies for more info.

After I had lazied my way around the free pancake breakfast that Pennysaver sponsored I popped over to the North side of the park where some folks were starting to make the final stretch.
HumaneWalk07_13.jpg
It was pretty funny around the end zone because volunteers were handing out doggy icecream on the sidelines and the dogs were going totally bonzo for it.

HumaneWalk07_14.jpg
Up on the knoll there was all sorts of activities: bobbin for franks, paw art prints, etc. I mosied up there to see how that was rolling.

HumaneWalk07_15.jpg
So now I now that if I am ever feeling down in the dumps I just need to watch a bunch of dogs bobbing for franks. Seriously folks its everything you need to have your hee haw renewed in life.

But seriously (yes again with the seriously) - on my way back to the final goodbyes for the morning I had to get a couple of snaps of two great teams that work within San Diego Humane Society...
