SurfDog [or] Foamies n' Fuzzies

So I popped over to the Helen Woodward Animal Center Second Annual Surf Dog event last Sunday. [link]

Things have been kinda intense lately so surfing doggies was defo' on the list of things to help my hee haw!



Always a good time when you are laughing and have yer toes in the water.



Many of the pups were ready to rock it



some were checking the break...


Others were so laid back in their surfin' styles...


this bystander doggy looks like he is thinking - are you sure you know what yer doin' buddy?!


and then of course you have yer rock god o' da waves...


Buddy le surf pooch just knows how to handle the action.


and then he manages to get lovely ladies n' others to get him back out. (while he barks in enthusiasm the whole time) what a player!


his boogie board option is all chewy from his enthusiastic "get me out there" chompings!


but he does know how to share the fun...


Bandit got a ride in with Buddy but also rocked it on his own...


As did these awesome surf puppies...





The fuzzy surfers had a pretty good audience. I think there was almost twice as many people as last year! Seeing as this is only the second time the event has happened - I think next years gonna be huge!

Even though it was well attended people were having a pretty mellow time. It was great seeing folks really happy & totally enjoying the coast.

As always there were surf instructors for the newbies...

and helping hands from their humans...

There were wipeouts...



and wiggles...

and fun interspecies wave riding...

Be Prepared

Scout - This little doggy man is a sweet energetic pup (just a little over 1 year old). He was super well mannered for his photo shoot.

you may not be ready for all those good looks in one fuzzle package but here it comes again...

Pet Day on the Bay

Moose - A total charmer. This guy rocked his photo shoot. He was super balanced and happy. Check out his sit-up action...

A great way to help sponsor pets like Moose that are in Helen Woodward's care is to pop over to their 7th annual "Pet Day on the Bay" with Hornblower Cruises on Thursday the 17th. [link]

Bring your dog and donation of towels and/or blankets to the Embarcadero and you and your pooch both get a free 1 hour harbor tour on Hornblower Cruises. All collected donations go to Helen Woodward Animal Center .

I Wouldn't Call it a Betrayal but...

A Snake in the Grass can be a dangerous experience for the Fuzzle in yer life.

Especially if the Fuzzle you adopt likes to go on long walks in our local hills & valleys.

Roy - This handsome fella is about 2.5 years old and ready for a trail buddy. Adopt him at the Helen Woodward Center.

Show him the ropes and keep him (or another fuzzle) safe by participating in the Snake Training Session sponsored by German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue. [link]

The class includes both general good to know info about the snakes that might be encountered and also moves to a training portion that teaches your dog to recognize the scent, sight, and sound of a rattler. Check out this [link] for more info.

Sometimes it Snows in April

Wayne - A 1.5 year old Basenji mix. He is a champion smiler. Whoever adopts him should defo send his smile in to BARK magazine! Adopt him at Helen Woodward Center.

Crazy rainy day here in ol' San Diego. Supposed to snow in las montañas this weekend. I am hoping to do a camping trip sometime this summer up in the cuyamacas. [link]

My Buddy N' Me...

Buddy - This coy demeanor is his ploy to suck you into a fun day with the Buddy Man! A young Siberian Husky mix (about 2 years old) is waiting for somebody to play with n' love, n' go for runs with, n' luv, n' snuggle w/ snacks, n' luv, etc.


Who knows?
Maybe he can be your hot date to the upcoming Wags for Wishes in July. [link]

It looks like these two mega cuties are ready for their easter egg hunt...

Tyler & Noodles - These two chow chow mixes could definitely use an easter surprise. They have been at the shelter for a while. Classic case of good dogs that need somebody to take a closer look at their charms! I got to spend some time watching them frolic in a play yard and they really are sweet n' happy pups. Adopt them at Helen Woodward Animal Center.

so I was over at the Helen Woodward Center earlier this week & I noticed that they still had a number of puppies around. So if yer absolutely, positively, just gotsta have a puppy (and ye be ready fer the challenge)...
