Bowl o' Rama

SNAP_Bowling0408_042.jpg
Ok y'all

SNAP_Bowling0408_068.jpg
I have been wanting to check out the annual Bowling for the Animals event for a few years now and I finally, finally made it there. I popped up to the Poway Fun Bowl and took pics for SNAP (Spay & Neuter Action Project). It was the 10th Annual event and I gots ta' say that they put on a purtay güd time.

SNAP_Bowling0408_111.jpg
All the proceeds from the event went to the excellent duo of pet overpopulation prevention super hero groups known as SNAP & Feral Cat Coalition. Both of these groups are the real deal and make a difference in our county's pet overpopulation.

SNAP_Bowling0408_047.jpg
I did not actually bowl that day since I was all about the picture taking but it seemed like a fun way to spend a Sunday. The veggie buffet was pretty yums as well.

SNAP_Bowling0408_044.jpg
I tried my hand at the raffle (they had some great raffle prizes - thanks to those folks who donated so much!)

SNAP_Bowling0408_004.jpg
The raffle had no luck to throw my way unfortunately - the one prize I threw most of my tickets at was fated to the smiley guy in the picture below. grrrrrrrrr
SNAP_Bowling0408_172.jpg
Anywhooo...

I highly recommend that y'all go next year. It was nice and cool inside of the bowling alley (this was that super hot weekend where I thought that I was gonna heat stroke in my car).
There is good food, good fun, good prizes. Pretty much an easy pleasey

SNAP_Bowling0408_146.jpg
There was also a super cute group of youngsters there for a birthday party that was also a benefit towards the host pet groups. I always love to see the youngsters learnin' how to make a difference at a young age. yay!

Things that Go Thump in the Night...

ACC_bunbun.jpg
Hooray for Fuzzy Friends!
This lil' lagomorph was fairly adorable in its photo shoot. Always remember that wee baby bun buns are loooooong term companions and should be adopted by folks that are ready for a companion that lives longer than you might think and needs lots o' lovin time. Remember that short term Easter Buns should only be made out of chocolate and marshmallow.
Adopt this wee one at Central Animal Services. [link]

Also make sure to check out our local House Rabbit Society! They have tons o' great info for the potential bunny family friends. [link] They also have lots o' cutey bun bun videos for a bunny viddy break. [link]

I met one other wee one at Central Animal Services that y'all should meet.

Lhasa Lovin'

My buddies over at SNAP gave me the heads up on another fantastic fuzzle that is available for adoption.

Dorell emailed me this photo of him and now we present...

Taj - You too will want to build a grand monument of lurv for this wee young fuzzle. He is a 5 month old Lhasa Apsa. He is neutered, microchipped, good with cat/dogs/kids , housebroken (aww yeah baby!), good on a leash, and social. They note that he can be chatty with new dogs when he is on a walk or at the park.

So basically you are ready to rock!

Well I wanna-wanna lotta-Lhasa huggin'
So baby can't you see that you were meant for meeeeeeeee

Adopt him from Spay Neuter Action Project of San Diego.

DoggyDash_01.jpg
Saturday was the rise n' shine fun time at the Chula Vista Doggy Dash!
Proceeds from the event went to H.E.A.R.T. (this is the non-profit organization that assists the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility in providing care for thousands of pets) [link]

I popped in at a little past 8:00 am & the joint was already jumpin'.

There were all sorts of great vendor booths and rescue groups in attendance.

DoggyDash_05.jpg

I started out saying hello to the folks with Greyhounds 2 Go. [link]

DoggyDash_04.jpg
They had a bunch of adoptable fuzzles hanging out showing their true "lap dog" nature. Here we have Hope & Rego (both 5 years old) practicing the fine art of lap balancing.

and peering over from behind his buddy...

DoggyDash_02.jpg
Flick - The beautiful 6 year old brindle boy!

Greyhounds were Definitely in the house!

Here representing Greyhound Adoption Center as an official SpokesDoggy is Elvis!
DoggyDash_06.jpg
When this rockstar enters the building you take notice. His charm & charisma works like a spell over those that meet him! He was there to show off the awesome attributes of the greyhound and I think he was doing a pretty good job. [link]

Here he is with his gal pal Brindy (co-SpokesDoggy). I think she is swooning...
Or is that me!

And then they're off!

Whilst the athletes were doing their exercise thang I swooped back over to my good buddies at Pit Bull Rescue San Diego to get a few glamour shots going.

and just general fun in the sun and doggy watching...
doggydash_12.jpg

I think the one on the left looks like Eric Estrada.

The Chula Vista Police Canine Unit put on a demonstration of one of their doggy officers at work. It was a good thing that everyone was holding their doggies leads because the dogs got way amped up when the center doggy was showing its stuff. It was totally intense!
DoggyDash_11.jpg
There were sooo many folks hanging out in front of the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility's booth that I just could not get a clear shot. But that is awesome! I think they got some really good response that day! They were taking pictures of all the race participants, handling licensing, fielding questions, setting up interactions, n' more. [link]

Love Me Tender...

Goldie - Gorgeous lil' doxie mix lady ready for shnuggles.
Adopt her at the
Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.

Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go.
You have made my life complete and I love you so.

I stopped by Muttropolis (luv this store) on Saturday to check out their Valentine Smooch-a-Pooch event. I showed up after the fun smoochy booth was over but still got a chance to hang with the awesome ladies of SNAP and check out the adoptables from
Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.
There were adoptions that went through that day (yay!) and the sweet pupples that have pix in this post are still available.

Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfill.
For, my darlin', I love you and I always will.

Jacque - The romantically inclined Jack Russell / Fox Terrier? boy who really excells in snuggling. Adopt this 7 year old romeo at the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.

The
Chula Vista Animal Care Facility is totally where it's at. If y'all have never been down there (or have not been down in a while) you gots ta go. They always have an amazing selection of adoptable fuzzles.

Love me tender, love me long, take me to your heart.
For it's there that I belong and we'll never part.

Scruffy - Candy S. from SNAP had me laughing with this mr fuzzy. She called him the "Disney Dog" and I have to heartily agree. Can anyone say "The Shaggy D.A."?
If so Adopt Him at the
Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.

I had a good chat with Candy, Dorell, & Ann from the Spay & Neuter Action Project. They have a whole bunch o' cool stuff on the horizon and are kickin' bootie as always in the pet overpopulation crises. I will be devoting a post in the next couple o' days to their awesomeness. They will be having the Neuter Scooter at the Vista location on Tuesday...

Neuter Scooter
Low Cost Spay & Neuter Service
Tuesday Feb. 13th
Petco Vista - 520 Hacienda Drive

Love me tender, love me dear, tell me you are mine.
I'll be yours through all the years till the end of time.

Kellogg - I noticed this wee waggler when I stopped by Pit Bull Rescue's Valentine Adoption Event yesterday. She's teeny weeny but will be the valentine smoochy for this post. Have you ever thought of fostering? This group has some great dogs ready for foster homes. Hmmmmm let's take that "Be Mine" to heart this Valentine's day.

Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfill.
