Wags for Wishes [or] Rocket Dog! part deux

Wags_18.jpg
Rocket Doggies come in wee packages also. Don't forget that a lot of the little breeds are muy atlético!

So Wags fer Wishes was great fun as a spectator. It's like doggy day at Magic Mtn or something. The dogs are queued up everywhere to get on rides and they are all looking to their companions as if to say " can we go on again as soon as it's finished?"

Wags_20.jpg

Flyball was a blast to watch. I had never really checked it out for more than a second before. Wags was a great intro 'cause these folks were amped and ready to go! Dogs of all sizes were participating. I'll try to research local teams and post them to a subsequent Fuzzle post.

Wags_21.jpg
Those flyball puppies know how to turn n' burn!

Wags is a great event for many reasons but one of the most important to some Adoptable Buddies out there is the chance to show off at the Adoption Center Tent!

CVS_Biscuit.jpg
Here is Biscuit the cuddle bug hanging out and working her hot buttered magic with some new buddies.

Wags_07.jpg
So Biscuit the Magnificent is a very sweet 3 year old female love dog from Chula Vista Animal Services. There were some folks inquiring about her but you should check in and see if she is still available. [link]

and you might have also run into mugs like...
Wags_08.jpg
Ok y'all - I am amazed that this guy made it past the first day at the S Ford Adoption booth. He is Mr Photogenic! Fenway is his name - go ahead and wear it out! Adorable 4 year old male Boston Terrier mix. [link]

There were lots' o doggies Fenway's size that were tearing up the track at events like the luring obstacle course. This lil' terrier is a good example of their awesome antics...

Wags_16.jpg

I also watched the sheepherding for awhile. Totally fascinating teamwork. I didn't get any pics of that event - maybe next year. In the meantime if you need someone to rustle up some guinea pigs or make sure that yer socks are well corraled...

Wags_17.jpg
Pepe le cutey! We were calling him a TBC - Teacup Border Collie - for fun but he is actually a Papillon mix. Beyond Cute and quite the perky player! (when he isn't napping a la this picture) Adopt this 11 month old at Chula Vista Animal Services #A080634. [link]

So in the middle of the day I hung out at the Splash Dogs venue and checked out the mighty dock divers! There were some amazing leaps to be seen.

This guy was an amazing high jumper. I think on this one he was up for so long he is starting to reconsider things on the way down!

Wags_22.jpg

After Splash Dogs I popped back over to the vendor village to cool down a bit and say hi to the awesomeness that is...
Wags_14.jpg

SNAP & the Neuter Scooter were in attendance. They had some wee mews up for adoption but I did not get any snaps of them this time. Remember that they have paired up with Bow Wow Beauty Shoppe in Hillcrest to host some adoptable kittens! [link]

Hangin' out in the shade were some adoptable puppies with S Ford Foundation. Get yourself ready 'cause these guys are off the charts!

Wags_11.jpg
Billy, Everett, n' Carver were getting a lot of attention at the adoptions booth but it never hurts to get a lil' bit more. Check them out at S Ford Foundation. [link]

Right around the bend from all that pupple schnozz was the gorgeous greyhounds of Greyhounds 2 Go!
Wags_03.jpg
I like this picture of Rider because he looks like Kermit the Frog Smiling!

The group had a bunch o' doggies being goodwill ambassadors for the greyhound breed.

Wags_05.jpg
Everybody was being cozy n' well behaved.

But there was one superstar in attendance that is available for adoption...
Wags_06.jpg
Cyclone the Greyhound is a 3 year old male that is ready to be yer cuddle bug!

Wags_04.jpg
Here he is looking regal - Adopt him at Greyhounds 2 Go. [link]

So once I popped back into the sport zone I mozied over to the Luratics lure coursing zone and hung out there for the rest of the day. It is non-stop entertainment watching those guys run. Some of them take it pretty seriously...

Wags_19.jpg

Anywhooo...

Next year I have got to spend more time and pictures over at the Agility Course area. I watched for a little bit and it definitely deserves some fuzzle pix!

Pet Expo-ialidocious

costamesaFair
So I popped over to the big Pet Expo in Costa Mesa today. My mom was co-pilot in the pet adventure. I had never been to this event before and it was pretty fun. The fairgrounds are nice and there was a really big Adoptable Pet presence. Hooray!

Rio
Rio the Super Duper Therapy Dog was helping to raise funds for the Therapy Dogs of Southern California. They had a bunch of really sweet dogs in attendance. Check out their website. [link]

The group had trading cards made with all their therapy dogs. I picked up one for Rio. Check out super dog's story (from the back of the card):

I started my life/career as a puppy in the guide dog program and at about a year old I had a career change to a Therapy Dog. I love to visit and do tricks for all the children in the hospital. I also love Flyball tournaments, to run and fetch the tennis ball, play in the water at the beach and travel in my R.V...

splashdog
My mom & I checked out the Splash Dog antics for a wee while. I am assured that my hee haw is renewed for at least a month.

Lest y'all think that I do not have an adoptable for viewing...

Meet Cami
Cami
We watched this little gal be the demo dog for a training seminar and I gotsta tell ya. She is a winner. Very sharp in the ol' noggin and very well balanced. There was plastic sheeting from the stage blowing all around her and she was not phased at all. She was super responsive during the 20 minute demo session. I was informed that she does very well around other dogs and noticed her later (in a small run with about 5 other dogs) being very well behaved.

So you say you are ready to seal the deal...
She is in the care of the Riverside Animal Shelter. [link]

Her collar tag showed #2747. She is a 4 yr old female that has been microchipped & spayed. I am not sure if she will be brought back to the Pet Expo for Sat. & Sun but you can probably call the shelter and check to see if she is being taken there over the weekend.

If you want to get out to a fun fuzzle festival this weekend and Costa Mesa is just way too far - you are in luck my friend. Woofstock is happening Saturday at Balboa Park and for a mere $5.00 you can have the fair feeling right in our own gem of a park. [link]
